Support future Blugold athlete champions with a gift to the Champions Fund UWEC Athletics What We're Fundraising For This fund allows our athletics coaches access to funds to cover post-season expenses not covered by the NCAA. When our Blugolds win a national championship, this fund will be able to cover the cost of national championship rings for student-athletes and coaches. It is the goal for all teams to represent UWEC at the highest stage, and this fund helps our teams when they need it most and also rewards them when they reach the pinnacle of winning a national title! Baseball is an equipment-heavy sport, so making sure all the players are properly outfitted and have all the equipment they need is a tall order. As the overall cost of providing an elite student-athlete experience continues to rise, support from our Blugold Family is more crucial than ever. Last year we used money raised from the athletics week of giving towards individual apparel kits; which included a Blugold branded singlet, shorts/spandex, and long sleeve running top; so we look like a team at practice. This was a huge success and we plan to continue using donations for this purpose. The cross country team has a rich history of successful runners who have earned All-American honors. Displaying these individuals on a board on the indoor track will give recognition to past alums who have made the team stronger and inspire current Blugolds to do the same. Our program has several projects that need your help: Technology Upgrades - A new rule will allow headsets in the helmets of quarterbacks. Your gift can help the program keep up with the competition by upgrading to this new system. Nutrition Station - Stocked with items proven to help with recovery, such as bread and peanut butter, protein bars and a fridge stocked with chocolate milk, players can stop from the weight room to the locker room or stop in between classes to get what they need. Travel - The Blugolds have a big road trip in 2025 when they travel to Ohio to take on Kenyon College. A donation of any amount can make a difference for one of our players. Operating an elite football program is expensive. The annual budget cannot cover all the costs needed at times. A donation to the John Kell Football Endowment allows the program to run at an elite level. We have a legacy of strong gymnastics and academic success. To continue the legacy that has been built over several decades, we need support from loyal fans like you. Thanks to the generous donations we received during Athletics Giving Week last year, we were able to replace our competition floor, significantly enhancing our training and performance space. This year, we’re aiming to take our facility to the next level by raising the floor onto a podium and adding a large soft mat in the gap underneath. This upgrade will provide better shock absorption, reducing the impact on our athletes' joints and helping prevent injuries. It will also make training more comfortable and less painful, allowing our athletes to focus on refining their skills with confidence. This improvement mirrors the successful upgrade we made to our vault area a few years ago, which has already made a noticeable difference in both safety and performance. With your support, we can continue creating a safer, more effective training environment that helps our athletes reach their full potential. Last year, donors helped the team achieve their goal to accept an invitation to the NFCA (National Fastpitch Coaches Association) Lead-Off Classic tournament—a prestigious early-season tournament that brings together the top collegiate softball teams from across the nation. Participating in this elite competition will not only showcase our team’s talent on a national stage but also help us gain valuable experience against the best in the country. This trip also gave the team the experience of playing in the same stadium where the 1996 Olympic softball team won the gold medal in Columbus, GA, a stadium constructed solely for the purpose of hosting the 1996 Olympic softball games. During the trip, the team also had the privilege of meeting Carol Bruggeman, the Executive Director (and now CEO) of the NFCA. The team has the opportunity to go back to the Lead Off Classic in 2026! Anything is possible with your help, and the goal of the program is to provide the best possible student-athlete experience. UWEC Director of Athletics, Jason Verdugo, has challenged all teams to exceed their top performance. If we reach our initial goal of 25 gifts, we’ll receive a $500 bonus, and hitting 30 will earn us an additional $500. Gifts are counted as one per household. Multiple gifts made from the same household will be disqualified from counting towards our goal. Matching Gift Opportunity Judy Kruckman is challenging everyone to give back to our Blugold Women's Teams. Once we hit 250 gifts to any women's team, Judy will give $1,500 to the Women’s Opportunity Fund. When we hit 500 gifts to any women's team, she'll kick in another $1,500. And once we hit 1,000 gifts to any women's team, she'll donate $2,000. In total, that's $5,000 to support our Blugold Women's Teams through the Judith Kruckman Women’s Opportunity Fund! Show your support for UWEC Athletics Giving Week with a gift to Men's Wrestling UWEC Men's Wrestling What We're Fundraising For The Blugold Wrestling team is an integral part of the UW-Eau Claire community. Our athletes follow the UW-Eau Claire mission of excellence to the highest standard. Blugold Wrestling has continued to raise the bar, as this year senior Jared Stricker became the program’s first two-time national champion. Stricker is the recipient of the WIAC Wrestler of the Year award for the second consecutive season. He was named the Co-Wrestler of the Year last season. Blugold wrestlers have now won the award three times, with Derek Sikora serving as the only other recipient in 2006. Stricker tallied the most wins in NCAA Division III this season and went 43-0 en route to a 174-pound national championship. It was his second consecutive national title, making him the first two-time national champion in the wrestling program's history. The senior is believed to rank in or near the top five in Division III history with 169 career victories. He became the WIAC's all-time leader in wins this season and also became UW-Eau Claire's all-time leader with 75 pins. He ended his Blugold career on a 71-match win streak, the longest in program history. The program also had eight wrestlers receive Scholar All-America honors from the National Wrestling Coaches Association for the 2024-25 season. Making a gift this year will allow us to travel to compete in places like Pennsylvania and Alabama. Your gift will support our transportation, lodging and food to compete against top-ranked programs.
