What We're Fundraising For
The Blugold Softball team is an integral part of the UW-Eau Claire community. Our athletes follow the UW-Eau Claire mission of excellence to the highest standard. To continue the legacy of excellence, we need support from loyal fans like you to continue to compete at the top level.
Last year, donors helped the team achieve their goal to accept an invitation to the NFCA (National Fastpitch Coaches Association) Lead-Off Classic tournament—a prestigious early-season tournament that brings together the top collegiate softball teams from across the nation. Participating in this elite competition will not only showcase our team’s talent on a national stage but also help us gain valuable experience against the best in the country. This trip also gave the team the experience of playing in the same stadium where the 1996 Olympic softball team won the gold medal in Columbus, GA, a stadium constructed solely for the purpose of hosting the 1996 Olympic softball games. During the trip, the team also had the privilege of meeting Carol Bruggeman, the Executive Director (and now CEO) of the NFCA.
The team has the opportunity to go back to the Lead Off Classic in 2026! Anything is possible with your help, and the goal of the program is to provide the best possible student-athlete experience.
Your gift will help cover essential expenses, including travel, lodging, and meals, ensuring our athletes have the opportunity to represent UWEC with pride and determination. With your support, we can continue building on our tradition of excellence and make an impact that resonates far beyond the field.
Our Goal is to Beat our Best
Now in our fourth year of Athletics Giving Week, we are determined to surpass our best results yet. UWEC Director of Athletics, Jason Verdugo, has challenged all teams to exceed their top performance. If we reach our initial goal of $17,000, we’ll receive a $500 bonus, and hitting $19,000 will earn us an additional $500.
Matching Gift Opportunity
Jill Muenich '88 is generously matching all gifts to Women's Softball dollar-for-dollar up to $1,000! Make your gift during Athletics Giving Week to double your impact. Additionally, Judy Kruckman is challenging everyone to give back to our Blugold Women's Teams. Once we hit 100 gifts to any women's team, Judy will give $1,500 to the Women’s Opportunity Fund. When we hit 200 gifts to any women's team, she'll kick in another $1,500. And once we hit 300 gifts to any women's team, she'll donate $2,000. In total, that's $5,000 to support our Blugold Women's Teams through the Judith Kruckman Women’s Opportunity Fund!
Gifts are counted as one per household per team. Please do not give a gift to the same team for you, your spouse, your child etc. because you all will only be counted as one gift towards the challenge. There is an option to jointly make your gift from you and your spouse to ensure you are both credited for your generosity.
Donate $24 in honor of Coach Huntington's 24th season in which she tallied her 600th win, making her only the 2nd coach in WIAC history to hit the 600 mark!
Your gift of $1,000 covers 1/5 of the cost of a new pitching machine.
