During a year unlike any other that we've experienced, the BMB marches on!
Divided into 18 subgroups for Band Camp and four groups for ongoing weekly rehearsals, students are wearing masks, using bell covers on their instruments, practicing while six feet apart, and following the other stringent guidelines shared in the College Band Directors National Association's COVID-19 study to minimize risk and maximize safety during the pandemic.
In a year in which nothing looks the same for these college students, the ability to practice and perform with the BMB is one crucial constant in their lives. Without a football season or many other traditional campus events, the energy and enthusiasm of the BMB--even in socially-distant performances--provides the school spirit and cheer that keeps UW-Eau Claire going.
The 416 members of the BMB need YOUR help to keep them going...literally! The band is in desperate need of a new, larger equipment truck. The truck is used to haul large instruments, sideline electronic equipment, and other property that the band uses during each practice and performance. Loading the truck each day for rehearsals is a Tetris game. Equipment must be packed in a particular way for everything to fit and the doors to close. Not only is the current truck too small for the equipment-hauling needs of the band...as of the beginning of Band Camp, it's not even starting! The majority of this year's fundraising campaign will support the purchase of a larger equipment truck for BMB.
Gifts of ANY amount will make a tremendous difference in supporting the BMB during an unprecedented year!
