The UWEC Chemistry and Biochemistry Dept. offers amazing classroom, research, and internship opportunities for undergraduate students. Unfortunately, COVID and rising costs have made a degree at UWEC inaccessible for some incoming students. If students do not experience the life-changing opportunities provided by our department, who will find solutions to the important technical problems facing society? We need your help.
The department has initiated a campaign to fund two scholarships to recruit incoming students. We are inviting you to participate in the campaign. Not only that, but your gift will be matched dollar-for-dollar with $7000 donated by alumni Melissa ‘93 and Jeff Sherman and James Vyvyan (’91)!
One $2500 Chemistry and Biochemistry Opportunity Scholarship will be awarded to an incoming major with high academic potential (which does not necessarily mean high GPA or test scores) and financial need. Recipients must provide evidence of overcoming challenging experiences or circumstances. The $2,500 award is renewable for up to three additional years.
Four $2500 First-Year Chemistry/Biochemistry Scholarships will be awarded to incoming first-year students who show a strong academic record, involvement in extracurricular activities, and outstanding leadership potential.
Your scholarship campaign gift will help other students benefit from the life-changing experiences offered by the department. You can double your impact if you give before December 15th! In addition, many employers of our graduates match donations as well.
Have you benefitted from your UWEC Chemistry and Biochemistry experiences? Please consider a donation of any size to our scholarship campaign to give other students the chance to excel in our program.
Thanks for supporting future Blugold Chemistry and Biochemistry students!
Sincerely,
Kent M. Syverson
