Sustainability at UWEC 2022

$5,360 given by 22 donors to support UW-Eau Claire sustainability initiatives

Sustainability at UWEC 2022

The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire is among the country’s most environmentally responsible colleges, according to the 2022 edition of the Princeton Review Guide to Green Colleges. Our goal is to provide resources for all students, staff, and faculty to practice and preserve the campus environment and reduce the overall harmful impact on the environment through partnership with the community.

In honor of Earth Day, April 22, we are celebrating two special sustainability initiatives on campus - the Champions of the Environment and the brand new Sustainability Speaker Series. Make a gift today, and two special donors will match your donation, doubling the impact of your support!

Champions of the Environment Scholarship

Mary (Hyne) Dipboye '70 will be matching all donations to the Champions of the Environment Scholarship Fund dollar for dollar up to $7,000! This scholarship is awarded to a student of any major who is passionate about creating a positive environmental impact and wishes to embark on a career focused on environmental studies. The scholarship recipients are leaders and innovators in sustainability by applying their studies and experiences at UW-Eau Claire to their careers and personal life. Encourage students to be champions of sustainability efforts by supporting the Champions of the Environment Fund.

Sustainability Speaker Series

This brand new fund's ambition is to bring speakers of national prominence – leaders, innovators and influencers in government, business, non-profits and academia – all with a focus on envisioning and creating a more sustainable society. Dr. Tara Passow, a 1977 Biology alum, is passionate about sustainability. Today she is encouraging you all to donate to the Sustainability Speaker Series! Tara will be matching all gifts up to $5000 to help UW-Eau Claire start an educational offering that will bring in speakers that have a focus on sustainability. Bringing speakers to campus to speak on sustainability will benefit students and serve as an educational tool for faculty, staff, and the surrounding Eau Claire community. Typically, speakers cost at least $5,000, so we need your help to get this new initiative funded to start bringing speakers to campus. Join Tara today in ensuring we can provide more opportunities to educate our students and community on sustainability here at UW-Eau Claire!
