We need to upgrade our Veteran’s Center!
The UW-Eau Claire Veterans Center located in Schofield Hall 20, was established in 2009 to provide a meeting place on campus for veteran students, faculty and staff to honor them for their service to the country and to be a place of welcome for veterans on campus. It provides a comfortable space for student veterans to study and interact with others who have similar experiences. The University has been able to consistently serve the greatest needs of veterans in less-than-ideal surroundings. This is where you come in.
Given its importance to our Veteran students and their family members, we are asking for YOUR help to raise funds to upgrade this space to increase safety, tracking and to create a more welcoming environment. The majority of veteran and military students who utilize the center are commuter students, and this space is where most of them come between classes to study, enjoy their meals and connect with fellow students. With your donations, we can increase the number of study spaces, upgrade our kitchenette, purchase new furniture, improve technology, and provide a renewed look by updating lighting, flooring, and a fresh coat of paint. These upgrades would be a great way to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Veterans Center!
UW-Eau Claire is the academic and employment destination for more than 300 military veteran students and 34 faculty and staff members who have served their country representing every military branch. More than 130 students are dependents of military veterans who utilize education benefits to assist them with their educational expenses. In addition, the ROTC program in the College of Business has an annual enrollment of close to 50 students. Since it opened in 2009, the Veteran’s Center has lived up to its motto of “You Served. We Care.” This service to Veterans has been recognized nationally through various designations as a military-friendly campus.
Thank you for supporting the Veterans Center renovation. Your investment will make a more inclusive space for military-connected students to succeed at UW-Eau Claire.
